Add Undo Sending to Microsoft Outlook

During the day I am forced to use Microsoft Outlook for calendar, contacts and mail. I am an avid Gmail user as explained earlier today in Master Gmail Shortcuts Like a Pro, I was pleased to find out that with a little Googling together with some trial and error, one of my favourite Gmail features is actually located in Outlook, it just requires a little more effort.

Undo Send has just graduated from Gmails into your mail preferences, it basically holds the message for a period of time before sending, very handy if you spot a mistake or missed something out. Its turns out Outlook can do this too, I will assume you already know about Outlook Rules and Alert, it’s very similar to filtering in Gmail.

When creating a new rule you need to look for the Apply rule on messages I send as shown below.

Outlook Rules and Alerts

You can leave the rest of the options on this page, click next and don’t select anything on the following page, you will be prompted after clicking next that this will be applied to every message. On the next screen you can set your deferred delivery time in minutes, I’ve set mine to 1 minute as shown below.

Deferred time in Outlook

You can now confirm this, and click next, and next again if you want this to apply with no exception! Once this is complete that really is it, it’s a little long winded but it does the trick. Now every time you sent it will delay the message in your outbox for 1 minute until sending.

Remember this is a client only rule, this rule will not apply if your using an exchange mobile device or Outlook web access! Hope you enjoy this little tip.

Research Into Cloud Security

It’s a sad fact, that I like to spend some time on my weekends going through the Internet looking for the answers to questions I have about technology. Whenever I talk to people about the Cloud, the biggest talking topic back is always about security. It’s an important fact of the Internet, if your not hosting your own data then your Cloud storage is as safe as the bare files you’ve already uploaded.

Forrester Research have completed an investigation into data security in the countries where the data is stored, based on local goverment laws and how data is hosted. The results are very interesting, the map included in the research notes, gives the country a rating, based on how secure the data is.

Follow the link below for Forresters interactive map. Know where your cloud is before you use the hosting, this is a very overlooked area of the Cloud.

Talktome Helps You Cheat With A New Language

I’d first like to point out that I am not an Android user, although I do like having a look around the Android Market Place from time to time to see what apps I’m missing out on, this one looked so good I had to give it a try on a friends device.

It’s called Talktome, and it will translate anything you tell it and speak it out loud for you in real time! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked like a complete fool in a different country because I’ve pronounced a word complete wrong, save yourself the embarrassment with this cool little app.

I’ve included the link to the market place as a hyper link over every mention, which I hope helps.

Talktome currently supports the following languages.

  • English
  • Spanish
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • English (UK)

I’ve included a video I found on YouTube which should give you a good idea of how it works.
